GP Connect – A Setup Guide

GP Connect is a service that will allow GP practices and authorised clinical staff to share and view GP practice clinical information and data between IT systems, quickly and efficiently.

This guide will help GP practices enable and set this up.

To set up GP Connect, several steps need to be taken to firstly configure the GP EMIS system.

There is an overarching privacy policy across ELHCP that covers the data sharing behind this and also providers will be asking patients for consent to access the data from their GP practices.

The configuration will allow GP Practices to share their clinical record with other authorised clinical staff and also go through how to set up the contractual requirement to offer appointments to 111 which should normally equate to 1 appointment made available to 111 for every 3000 patients per day.
HOWEVER – RECENT GUIDANCE FROM NHSE HAS ASKED GP PRACTICES TO INCREASE THIS TO 1 APPOINTMENT FOR EVERY 500 PATIENTS UP UNTIL 30TH JUNE 2020.

The instructions are in a video format and there is a written guide also referenced below.

This first video will go through setting up and configuring EMIS Web.

This second video goes through configuring appointments to allow 111 to book into appointments through GP Connect.
PLEASE NOTE: DURING THE COVID CRISIS, PRACTICES ARE ADVISED TO RELEASE TIMED TELEPHONE SLOTS

Things to note:
1. The naming convention for the Organisational Group should not have any spaces.
2. When setting up slots to be bookable by 111 the session has to be a Timed Appointment rather than an Untimed Appointment session.
